The department of Management, Bengaluru Campus organised their annual Sports Day on two days: the 18thand 19th of February, 2017. The objective was to develop sporting spirit among the students and offer a venue to display their physical prowess. Day one events began at 9:30 am on the basketball court. The event commenced with the national anthem and was officially inaugurated by the Chairperson with a shootout in the basketball court.
Following this, the two batches of MBA locked horns in a highly competitive basketball match. The seniors came out successful with a close margin of one basket. The second event for the day was badminton, the preliminary rounds had been conducted during the previous week, and the girls quarter-final was played on Sports Day. The third event for the day was table tennis, which was again a preliminary match. The fourth and last event of the day was cricket. Teams from both years of MBA had a team of eleven each and it was a very action packed match. The second year students came out triumphant.
Kickoff of the second day started with the finals of table tennis, which was won by Arun Sasidharan. Next came the badminton semi-finals and finals, wherein the girl’s badminton finals was won by Deepshikha Rai, MBA 1st year and Abhirami, MBA 2nd year was runner-up. In the boys badminton, match was won by Bharath, MBA 2ndyear and Saurabh Bonde, MBA 1st year, was the runner-up. The final event of the day was a football competition between juniors and seniors and the event was won by juniors.
The students shared that the Sports Day had been a truly enjoyable experience. It highlighted the importance of the sports for physical fitness, relaxation, teamwork and the cultivation of the sporting spirit that is useful in all of life’s experiences.
