Overview

The M.Sc. Medical Physics programme offered by the School of Allied Health Sciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is designed to prepare highly skilled medical physicists capable of supporting modern healthcare through the application of physics in medicine. The programme combines strong theoretical foundations with extensive clinical exposure in radiation oncology, diagnostic imaging, and nuclear medicine.

Delivered across the Kochi and Faridabad campuses, the programme provides students with access to advanced medical technologies, multidisciplinary healthcare teams, and structured clinical training within leading tertiary care teaching hospitals.

Medical Physics plays a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, particularly cancer. Medical physicists work closely with radiation oncologists, radiologists, nuclear medicine specialists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the safe and effective use of radiation and imaging technologies in patient care.

The programme follows a rigorous academic curriculum aligned with national professional standards and includes a mandatory clinical residency to develop graduates who are both academically proficient and clinically competent.

  • Candidates must have passed a First-class Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Physics with Mathematics as an ancillary subject. or
  • Candidate must have passed B.Sc. with Physics as a major (≥ 60% or ≥ 6.5 CGPA) and Mathematics as an ancillary and must have completed at least five of the following Physics courses: Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism, Thermodynamics, Optics, Electronics, Solid State Physics, and Nuclear Physics on Regular mode from a recognised university.
  • Admission on the basis of entrance exams by the respective University.
Eligibility (Kochi)
  • The candidate must possess a First Class in B.Sc. Physics with Mathematics as Ancillary subject OR
  • The candidate must possess a B.Sc. (Science) in First Class with Physics as a major (≥ 60% or ≥ 6.5 CGPA) and Mathematics as an ancillary, and must have completed at least five of the following Physics courses: Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism, Thermodynamics, Optics, Electronics, Solid State Physics, and Nuclear Physics. All required details shall be submitted in the application and verified through supporting academic records.
  • The candidate must have attained the minimum age of 20 years as on the date of admission or as notified for the current academic year.

Selection is based on the Marks obtained in the Entrance Examination, qualifying examination and personal interview conducted by the Department.

Mess Fees Refund

Refundable after deducting the proportionate amount for the number of months the mess has been utilized.

This policy dated 25th January 2025 will be followed in Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi for all the courses and will remain in force for subsequent Academic Sessions until the issuance of a revised policy by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham.
