Multi-Hazard Disaster Risk Reduction Solutions for The State of Odisha

The project’s primary focus is on enhancing disaster resilience and mitigating natural hazards, particularly in the Gajapati district and Sambalpur district of Odisha. It encompasses several key objectives, including identifying vulnerable locations using risk assessment frameworks, creating a four-level rapid warning system for landslide detection, establishing multi-hazard monitoring systems, and implementing an IoT-based early warning system using real-time and historical data. Additionally, the project aims to engage various stakeholders from the state and nation in activities to enhance community resilience, optimize disaster shelter houses, assess the impact of climate change on hazards, employ advanced geospatial modeling techniques, and utilize Amrita’s Landslide Early Warning System for operational purposes by the OSDMA. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s role as a knowledge partner ensures the comprehensive implementation and evaluation of interventions aimed at effectively building disaster resilience in the targeted areas.
