OLabs NextG: Next Generation Online Labs (OLabs) for Schools

The project’s objective is to design and develop 500 Online Labs for Schools for classes VI-XII for various subjects. The labs are developed in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Labs across seven new subjects are under development, including Science, Maths, Social Science, Computer Science Entrepreneurship, Indian Sign Language (ISL), English, and Sanskrit. All the OLabs experiments are mapped to the CBSE/NCERT curriculum. It will be available free of cost for schools, teachers, and students.

To make the latest technology accessible and available to the student community, enhancing their learning experience, selected OLabs, about 5% of the labs developed, will have an AR/VR component. Another key mandate of the NEP is the standardization of Indian Sign Language (ISL) across the county. Towards this, National and State curriculum materials will be developed, making them accessible for students with hearing impairment. As part of this project, ISL labs will be designed that will make learning Indian Sign Language.

Analytics dashboards are another essential feature of OLabs NextG. Two dashboards, one for Lab use and the other for Student use, will be made available. The dashboards will contain information related to the number of OLabs used by each student over a period, time spent on using popular labs, and most accessed Labs components. Additionally, scaffolds and formative feedback associated with each lab will be included to enrich the learning process. An offline installer will be available for selected labs for schools constrained by internet usage Android App for access to selected OLabs.
