Abstract : In this project, I’m going to deal with capital punishment as the prominent theme in the movie the green mile, directed by Frank Darabont. The movie is in the background of U S depression and it is the story of a mystical black giant with special powers wrongly executed by the officials for a crime he didn’t commit. From the beginning we are exposed to the theme of death beigning forced upon on people. I will be looking at death as imposed upon the inmates as a capital punishment and how prisoners respond differently to it.
