Abstract : The high static gain DC-DC converter using a single switch for Photovoltaic (PV) based grid application with improved efficiency is proposed in this article. This proposed topology has been derived from single ended primary inductor converter (SEPIC) by introducing a voltage-doubler circuit for providing high voltage gain with reduced voltage stress across the semiconductor devices. The operating principle, steady state analysis and the design guidelines of the proposed converter are discussed in detail. A single phase full bridge inverter is employed for the DC output voltage from the converter to AC grid application. The prototype of 250 W/300 V DC output with 30 V PV input is implemented and the performance of the proposed topology is validated.
