Abstract : In this paper, a new and simplified algorithm is presented to avoid collision at the intersection point on road in the vehicular networks. It makes use of cooperative driving in the context of autonomous driving. The algorithm works without the use of route map and route planning. The broadcast information is sent by vehicle and the expected time of arrival and intersection point is identified. It is then possible to change the status of the vehicle in motion travelling in different directions reaching at the intersection point, thereby avoiding any possible collision. The simulation results showed that this new proposed vehicle to vehicle (V2V) intersection protocols provide both, safe passage through the intersection and significantly decrease the delay (waiting time) at the intersection.
