Abstract : In this paper, two shunt active filtering algorithms, namely, synchronous detection technique and newly proposed I.cosϕ algorithm have been simulated and implemented in hardware and a comparison has been brought out. The proposed algorithm is found to work satisfactorily under various system operating conditions. The hardware implementation of both the schemes have been done and the proposed scheme is found to be simple and working satisfactorily
