Abstract : Low temperature cofired ceramics (LTCC) is a multilayer substrate manufacture technology which demands certain characteristic dielectric material to provide advantageous outcomes in the high frequency application unlike other technology. In view of that some doped niobates viz. CuxMg1-xNb2O6 (x=0,0.2,0.4,0.6,0.8,1) and CaxMg1-xNb2O6 (x=0,0.2,0.4,0.6,0.8,1) columbites have been prepared using sol-gel technique. The samples were sintered at 900 degrees C for 6 hours. Structural characterization of the prepared samples has been done using X-ray diffraction (XRD) method. Microwave dielectric properties like dielectric constant, Qf values and tau(f) values over Ku-band for all the compositions have been measured using a network analyser. It has been found out that doping effects change in properties significantly as a concurrence of structural ordering change and this ensures the suitability towards LTCC applications. Moreover, the low dielectric loss of these materials has shown an advantage.
