Abstract : “Smart City”- as the words describe, is a city that uses Information Communication Technology (ICT) and policies to make the city smart. Smart here refers to using technological solutions and policies to make the life of the people in the city easier, by improving the transportation facility, reduce wastage of energy and resources. In this paper, we address one of the critical factor “parking” inside a smart city. There have been numerous attempts made to imbibe the smart parking culture, but it has not much of an effect. We discuss how parking contribute challenges in a smart city and how smart parking solution can improve the city parking as well as traffic. This is a unique parking allocation model for smart city which uses a Resource Handling Module (RHM) and a user application to provide smart parking service for cities. Our solution considers parameters such as distance, cost, time and traffic while allotting the parking space to the user. Our system act as a better predictor of parking slots and helps to minimize the parking errors.
