Abstract : Involvement of renewable energy resources (RES) and energy storage systems (ESS) into the grid system has gained high acceptance in recent years. The plug-and-play feature of these distributed energy resources (DERs) causes various grid disturbances and this need to be prevented by efficient, effective and fast responding energy management (EM) techniques or systems (EMS). Till date several EMS have been explored by various researchers. The main focus of this work is to design, implement and analyze a Matlab/Simulink Stateflow model as well as a hardware prototype model of a DC system that is integrated with RES as well as EMS and to verify the effective functioning of the EMS. The EMS is implemented by incorporating both analog and digital techniques to provide efficient and effective energy management of the system.
