Amrita Faculty Delivers Talk on “COVID-19: Experiences from Kerala and India”

Dr. K. Vijayakumar, Professor and HOD at the Department of Community Medicine, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, was invited by Maternal and Infant Health Canada (The University of British Columbia), to deliver a talk on “COVID-19: Experiences from Kerala and India” on May 28, 2020. 

Amrita's Study on the Impact of COVID-19 on Ophthalmic Care

A study on the impact of Covid-19 on ophthalmic care during lockdown by researchers at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham showed that the percentage of ophthalmic activities across different service providers like teaching hospitals, speciality clinics and standalone clinics went down by 100% in speciality and standalone clinics which it fell by 95% in the full lockdown period on March 24-April 30, 2020.

Humanitarian Technology (HuT) Lab, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus, headed by Dr. Rajesh Kannan Megalingam (Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication, School of Engineering, Amritapuri) has developed remote-controlled robots ANNAPOORNA, PRABHA and MARUTI for COVID-19 scenarios.

Amrita Develops "Prabha"- Ultraviolet Room Disinfection Tele-Operated Robot during COVID Pandemic

Prabha, a robot that cleans room by systematically disinfecting the area with UV light. It can clean a 12’X12’ room, killing any COVID-19 virus that may be lurking, in 30 minutes to one hour depending upon how many lamps are connected to it.
