The United Nations General Assembly has designated November 25 as the “International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.” The 2019 theme for the #VAWG is ‘Orange the World: Generation Equality Stands Against Rape’.
In order to commemorate VAWG day, AMMACHI Labs deployment team in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, and Bihar organized various awareness activities aimed to prevent and end violence against women. In Haryana, community organizer Reena and facilitator Priyanka invited the girls and young women from Kanti village for life enrichment education session on “Gender-based violence” with the support of AMMACHI Labs’ #LEE videos.
#CO Harjinder and self-help group women members from Indpur village led the awareness sessions in Himachal Pradesh. Hadiabad village (Bihar) facilitator Renu Singh organized a group discussion with a group of 10 women and discussed physical and psychological forms of violence. Advocate Snehanjali provided legal awareness to our women from Guptapada village, Odisha and explained how to seek legal help when women and children face violence.
