The DST- Centre for Policy Research (DST-CPR) at the Indian Institute of Science was established in August 2014 with two broad goals, viz., (i) studying policies and mechanisms that can help increase the research impact of Indian institutions and thereby improve their position in global rankings and (ii) critically examining the different funding mechanisms and their efficacy in raising the research impact of Indian institutions. The Centre’s work towards these goals has multiple facets, including a scientometric study to assess how well Indian institutions perform in various fields of scientific research.
To address certain pressing climate change issues in India, IIT Delhi has taken a major initiative and created the DST Centre of Excellence in Climate Modeling with the support of the DST, GoI. The Centre of Excellence is in the process of developing an India-Centric Climate Model, which can simulate the regional climate of India and can be used for future climate projections at the district level to assess the impacts of climate change on agriculture, energy, health, human resource, water resource, and ultimately on the economy of India.
