Dr. Rajesh Kannan Megalingam (Director, Humanitarian Technology (HuT) Labs and Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri Campus) received the prestigious IEEE Undergraduate Teaching Award 2020 on October 23, 2020, from the IEEE President 2020, Dr. Toshio Fukuda in a grand event at the flagship conference of IEEE Education Society, Frontiers in Education (FIE 2020), in Sweden, held online from October 21-24, 2020. He also delivered a keynote address on “Undergraduate Mentoring and Research at HuT Labs, A Case Study” on the occasion.

Team Na-Sarathy of Humanitarian Technology (HuT) Labs, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri Campus, placed 12th in the world ranking in the Hackathon 2 of Indy Autonomous Challenge (IAC), organized by Energy Systems Network (ESN) and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS). The hackathon was held for a week from September 12 – 19, 2020.

Amrita student teams- ”Paricharya” and “Vijayanta” from the Humanitarian Technology (HuT) Labs, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus, won 2.25 Million Japanese Yen (Approx. 15 lakhs INR) towards participating in 2020 World Robot Summit to be held in Japan next year.
Ruthvik Chanda (Semester 7) of Humanitarian Technology (HuT) Labs of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus, won first prize at Robocon 2019, an esteemed robotic competition, held at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Boston, USA, from July 29 to August 9, 2019.
The final year students from the Humanitarian Technology (HuT) Labs, Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering (ECE), School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus, won First Prize and Sponsors’ Best Prize at RoboCon 2018. RoboCon18 is an international robotic design contest, and was held at Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo, Japan, from August 6-18, 2018
Souraj Vishnu, Vishnu Sasikumar and Sreekumar S won the Best Paper Award for the paper “Autonomous Path Guiding Robot for Visually Impaired People” at the International Conference on Cognitive Informatics & Soft Computing (CISC-2017) going on at VBIT, Hyderabad from 20th to 21st December 2017. It is significant to note that the paper was authored by S5 ECE bachelor students. While 99% of the participants were academicians and researchers, our bachelor students made a mark by winning this award.

One of the papers won the Best Paper Award at the recently concluded IEEE WIECON ECE conference held in Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology during Dec 19 –20 (2015), in the track AI and Computer Vision.

The research paper titled “DTMF based Robotic Arm Design and Control for Robotic Coconut Tree Climber” by Thejus P, Gokul M, Allan P, Trayesh V (all S7 ECE) of HuT Labs, ECE department, got shortlisted in the top five of the final round of the paper presentation contest at IEEE Global Humanitarian Technology Conference 2015, to be held at Seattle, WA, USA from Oct 8 – 11, 2015.
IEEE IES Student Chapter judged best in the world n won 2015 IEEE IES Student Branch Chapter Award.
IEEE Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham SB has won the 2014 Darrel Chong Award (for the proposal of ISEE 2014).
Two of our projects got funding from IEEE SEC (Standards Education Committee). AMBA – APB standard based controller for Health Care Applications (Goutham Ravindran and Raviteja) and Intelligent Wheelchair Simulator (Vishnu GB and Raviteja) are the projects!
