AMMACHI Labs deployed for the first time ever, a fully developed Assistant Plumbing course, based on the Modular Employable Skills (MES) syllabus, at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri, Kerala. Participants consisted of 7 women (located within a 10 to 15 km radius) –the first time such an initiative has ever been taken. All seven women that graduated were awarded their trade certificates by Shri. Dilip Chenoy CEO of National Skill Development Corporation, India. The graduation ceremony was organized as part of the workshop on Vocational Education and Haptics during the IEEE Conference on Technology Enhanced Education at the Amritapuri campus.The seven women graduates explained the step-by-step procedure in a virtual simulator for repairing a faucet and a clogged kitchen sink. The presentation was greeted by a whole-hearted applause from the appreciative audience.
