Dr. Akhil Mohan, an Assistant Professor at Amrita Coimbatore Campus, has secured a prestigious 2-year research fellowship from KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden. The research fellowship was based on a competitive call across the globe from the Division of Process Technology, School of Engineering Science in Chemistry, Biotechnology, and Health. The position offers research collaborations, teaching activities, and industrial collaborations with the KTH Royal Institute of Technology Sweden.
The research may focus on high-pressure pyrolysis and conduct experiments both in the lab and pilot-scale reactors following a systematic plan that will enable the design of full-scale biomass conversion facilities. The researcher will contribute to ongoing research activities within biomass pyrolysis and gasification. The position is funded by a large nationally funded project where the aim is to utilize waste heat in biomass conversion processes. The researcher will perform pyrolysis of biomass in pressurized conditions and characterize the products generated. Suitable design conditions to integrate the process with the waste heat source will be identified. Finally, a design of an upscaled unit will be proposed.
