NTU SingaporeVivek P. Eswar, Kartick S. and Sarath Vijayan will head to Singapore later next month for graduate studies. The three just graduated from Amrita with their B. Tech. degrees in EEE, and will start their M.S. degrees in Computer Control and Automation at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore. NTU’s engineering program is ranked 15th in the world.
The three students will be part of a work-study program that is subsidized by the Singapore government. The program will provide a 70% reduction in university fees and low-interest loans for the remainder part of the fees. The students have to commit for three years of work in Singapore. By their calculations, they will have paid back the loans in less than two years
AmritiansAt Amrita, the three were excellent students. They were admitted to NTU based on their overall GPA and the fact that they had participated in research projects. They had submitted letters of recommendation from their faculty and had also taken a phone interview comprised of technical and general questions from NTU.
Currently working as research assistants at Amrita, until their departure for Singapore, Kartick and Sarath stopped by, to speak to the web team. “At Amrita, we learned more than just what was in books, we learned about life itself,” shared Kartick. He described staying at the ashram when he first arrived, participating in seva and seeing how Amma and people there were always helping others. He saw most everyone he encountered at Amrita, as role models. “My experience at Amrita compares very favorably with those of my friends who went to other universities,” he emphasized.
Sarath chose to come to Amrita for both the academics and the value-based education. “I am pleased with the education I received. The courses were relevant and the professors very helpful,” he added. We congratulate the trio and wish them the best in their future endeavors.
