On 12th of January 2022 an event was conducted on account of National Youth Day, to encourage the students to imbibe the values of Swami Vivekananda and to follow his principles to build a nation full of physically and mentally strong and healthy youth.

Around 160 people including students from all NSS units and faculties attended the program. All NSS program officers, NSS program coordinator and student coordinators were present.

The formal function began with a prayer recited by Miss Sakthi Bhavani from 2nd year Integrated MSc. Physics Dept. followed by a welcome speech by Miss Smirthi Shammi Raj from 2nd year Integrated MSc. Chemistry Dept.

After that, Dr. D. Venkataraman NSS Programme Coordinator, addressed the gathering and briefed about Swami Vivekananda and his teachings.

Followed by that, Master Penugonda Sai Venkata Akash of NSS Unit III from CSE-B 3rd year and Miss Meera. P of NSS Unit VI from 2nd year of School of Agriculture, volunteered to address the occasion and to share their views and experiences.

Next, the chief guest and the keynote speaker, Sri. R. G. Rajendhiran, the founder and Chairman of the charitable trust ‘Manasaakshi’, spoke about Universal Life Education and its importance which focused on making the students understand, appreciate, respect and treasure life.

He encouraged them to be initiative, active, to grow in a healthy manner in every aspect, and to realise the meaning of life and the value of education. The speaker concluded by giving the message that emphasised on the point: ‘one should be a good human being before anything else’.

In the end, the meeting participants had the opportunity to discuss, ask questions and give their own suggestions and views on various aspects. The discussions also provided several ideas and proposals for future events which will help inform our planning for the next event.
