Summer Camp for High School Students on ‘Cyber Security’

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is conducting a summer camp for high school students interested in cyber security, from April 17.

The 6-day camp is being organised by Amrita’s Center for Cyber Security. Various aspects of cyber security such as web security, application security, network security, cyber forensics, penetration testing and cryptography will be covered in the camp.

Admission would be on merit-basis, through an online entrance examination to be conducted on April 11.

The examination will test the candidate’s basic mathematics, analytical and programming skills. Students of class 8 and 10 from any Kerala-based schools in the state can register for the examination.

All students selected will be eligible for full scholarship that includes accommodation, food and to and fro travel.

The camp is conducted in response to the growing demand for highly-trained cyber security professionals equipped with skill sets to deal with all forms of cyber threats, said a release from the institution.

Cybercrimes range from sales and investment fraud to electronic terrorism. It is estimated that India will need around five lakh cyber security professionals to secure the nation’s cyber assets.

Through this workshop, students will be encouraged to explore the world of cyber security and become a part of a movement towards a safer cyber world.

Participating in the camp will help students to build a basic foundation in cyber security concepts and also help them develop a competitive mindset, said the release.
