Abstract : Composite materials are better and are used more than the other metallic materials because of their properties such as light weight, high stiffness and strength, design flexibility and high corrosion and crack resistance. Aluminium Metal Matrix Composites pursued over other orthodox engineering materials in the field of automobile, aerospace and marine applications owing to their excellent improved properties. In the present work, an attempt has been made to enhance the mechanical properties of Aluminium Hybrid Metal Matrix Composites with Titanium Diboride and Graphite reinforcements with increase in weight proportions from 0% to 6%. The composites density was found to increase with higher filler contents and is further in agreement with the values of theoretical density. The Brinell's hardness and ultimate tensile strength of the composites witnessed an increase with greater ceramic phase and decreased filler size at the price of percentage elongation. The microscopic studies also indicate the change in hardness and tensile strength with an increase in grain boundaries and a coarse grain structure. Superior properties were found at 6% weight fractions of Titanium Diboride and Graphite. The sliding wear test was conducted at a constant velocity and different load. The dry sliding wear of the composites with Titanium Diboride and Graphite reinforcements displayed higher resistance to wear.
