• The project titled Implementation of Intensive Natural Language Processing & Soft Computing Technology Based Extrinsic Plagiarism Detection Tool  is funded by Department of Science & Technology (DST) Fast Track Young Scientist-Engineering Science Scheme.

  • The project titled Investigation into the surface integrity of the Titanium Alloys during high speed machining, is funded by ARDB. The investigators of the project are Dr. K. I. Ramachandran, Mr. P. Krishnakumar, Mr. A.Sumesh and Dr. M. Saimurugan.

  • COTS Security Incident and Event Management (SIEM) Systems process log events based on built-in rules and identify actionable incidents. These primarily identify known attacks. Using Machine Learning techniques such as Naive Bayes and AdaBoost algorithms, we aim to predict new attacks probabilistically for wired and wireless networks. The Machine Learning-based prediction system in tandem with an SIEM system to predict an attack before it actually occurs. Evaluate the effectiveness of the ML system comparing with the SIEM system in network attack prediction

  • Elastomeric components used in various nuclear applications have to withstand aggressive environments such as chemicals, corrosion and radiation.

  • Over the recent years, video camera networks have become ubiquitous and a part of our everyday environments. Such camera networks are deployed in a wide gamut of applications ranging from surveillance, emergency response, disaster recovery, and health care monitoring to name a few.

  • The project titled, "Study of Heat Transfer Characteristics of Nanofluids as Coolants for Automotive Application,"  is funded by DST - (Nano Mission). The investigators of the project are Dr. S. Thirumalini, M. Vivek and D. Senthil Kumar.

  • Different types of polymer composites are used in launch vehicles and satellite systems. The polymer matrices include polyurethanes, silicones, epoxies, PEEK, phenolics, acrylonitrile – butadiene copolymer [NBR], polyisoprene [NR] etc. Fillers which provide reinforcement, or specific properties may be particulate [eg silica, carbon black, silicon carbide] or fibrous / fabric, continuous or discrete [eg fibre/fabric of carbon, silica fabric, Kevlar, glass etc]. 

  • Aerobic  treatment  of  waste water  requires  the  continuous  replenishment of  oxygen  economically  in  sufficient  quantities.  Efficient  aerators  are developed  towards  this  end.  Plunging  Hollow  Jet Aerators  consist  of  a cone,  which  deflects  the  water  at  the  end  of  a  discharging  pipe  through the annular opening, forming a hollow jet.

  • The project titled "Indigenous development of functionally-graded aluminium metal matrix composites using centrifugal casting method and to investigate the mechanical and tribological properties", is funded by DST. The investigators of the project are Dr. Radhika S., Dr. Ilangovan S.

  • The project titled Design, synthesis and characterization of modified peptide nucleic acids having electrochemical/fluorescent markers, is funded by DST-SERB. The investigator is Dr. Prasanna Ramani.

  • Amaran- A Robotic Coconut tree Climber- India got the tag as the second largest coconut producer in the world. Until recently coconut plucking job conventionally was taken up by socially and economically backward people in these areas. Due to various government welfare programs and increase in literacy, the number of people taking up this job has dwindled a lot which is one of the main reasons resulting in increase in the price of coconuts. 

  • The project titled Total Synthesis of modified Berberines – A preliminary anti-cancer study, is funded by Heurtey Petrochemical Pvt. Ltd. The investigator is Dr. Prasanna Ramani. 

  • KaraChara is used in the rehabilitation and therapy of patients with paralysis due to stroke or spinal cord injury. The design consists of dual control mechanisms for the efficient operation of a Hand Orthosis device, which includes Electrooculogram (EOG) based control and Graphical User Interface (GUI) based control. Physiotherapists can train the patients at initial stages and patients themselves can start using without the need for Physiotherapists later. A patent has been filed for the same and is expected by the end of this year.

  • The project titled Synthesis of intermediates for biologically active molecules, is funded by Aventis Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd. The investigator is Dr. Prasanna Ramani. The project

  • The project titled "Neural Network Modeling for Condition Monitoring of I.C.Engine using different composite flywheels" is funded by IEI.

  • The goal of this project is to create a hierarchical extendible data model for indoor information which can represent buildings, entities within it, utilities, objects inside the building, and sensors inside the building for object tracking and localization, so that the represented data is easily stored and queried using a spatio-temporal database. An indoor information system will be developed which can support indoor asset tracking and real-time navigation over this data model. This project is funded by DST, India.

  • The project titled “Indoor Information Representation and Management System” is funded by Department of Science and Technology, India. Dr. Vidhya Balasubramanian, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore, is the Principal Investigator. 

  • The project titled "Development of Spinodal bronze, Bronze Matrix Composite and Functionally Gradient Bronze and Comparison of their Mechanical and Wear Properties", is funded by DRDO. 

  • The project titled Fault diagnosis of dynamic mechanical systems (gearbox) based on signal processing using machine learning techniques, is funded by DRDO. The investigators of the project are Dr. K. I. Ramachandran, Dr. M. Saimurugan, Dr. K. Rameshkumar and Mr. P. Krishnakumar.

  • This project is to create an impact on the level of independence of people with disabilities. To ease the lives of those among us who are unfortunate enough to have lost the ability to move their limbs due to stroke, (SCI - Spinal Cord Injury), old age and other disabilities (SSEP Group), Mudra is the perfect solution. Conventional control mechanism, joy stick, is not suitable for SSEP group of people as the joy stick requires the user to hold it and exert some force.

  • The receptor sites of the GABAA, GABAB and GHB receptors have been identified and the interactional analysis have been carried out using GABA and GHB molecules. The rate of interaction, mode of interaction the site of interaction and the way of interaction have been identified.

  • The project titled "Process Monitoring & Control of Ultra Precision Machining of Ti6 Al4 V Alloys" is funded by DRDO. 

  • This project is ongoing as part of the Amrita E-Learning Research Center. The goal of this project is to develop solutions for content based search and retrieval of multimedia E-Learning material.

  • Wordnet is an online lexical reference system. Its design is inspired by current psycholinguistic and computational theories of human lexical memory. Nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs are organized into synonymous sets, each representing one underlying lexicalized concept. Different semantic relations link the synonymous sets. Wordnet is neither a traditional dictionary nor a thesaurus but combines features of both types of lexical reference resources.

  • Dispersion of nanocarbon forms and metal nanoparticles in a conducting polymer matrix facilitates coating of such materials. Different nanocarbon materials such as single walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT), double walled carbon nanotube (DWCNT), multi walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT), and graphene are being synthesized using Radio Frequency (RF) Catalytic Chemical Vapor Deposition (CCVD).

  • The objective of the work was to develop aluminum alloys containing lithium, copper, and zirconium for aerospace applications. Moderately thick deposits of binary and ternary alloys of aluminum with lithium, copper and zirconium were successfully electrodeposited. This was achieved at room temperature through the use of low cost ionic liquid containing AlCl3 and triethylammine hydrochloride (Et3NHCl).

  • The stability theory of stream ciphers suggests that good key stream sequences must not only have a large linear complexity, but also change of a few terms must not cause a significant drop of the Linear complexity. This unfavorable property leads to the concept of k-error linear complexity. In this project we propose to extend this to the case of multisequences.

  • Preliminary  studies  have  been  carried  out  using  flexible  laminates prepared  from  different  types  of  PET  films  and  UHMWPE (Dyneema)  fabric  using  polyurethane  based  adhesive.  Peel strength,  Lap  shear  strength  and  helium  leak  rate  of  the  samples were  studied.  The  effect  of  plasma  treatment  of  Dyneema  fabric  on the  adhesion  properties  was  analyzed.  Discussions  held  with  ISRO scientists  provided  focus  to  the  subsequent  studies.

  • This testing facility is created to modernize the Heat Engines laboratory with funding from AICTE in the MODROB scheme with the equipments indicating Package, Crank angle encoder, and Combustion Analyser Eddy current Dynamometer. 

  • This research project identifies an appropriate combination of metal-elastomeric module configuration, using multi-layer shear damped viscoelastic approach, for mitigating the structure-bound vibrations on to the sensitive equipment. The composites are made of a metal (aluminium), and an elastomer (natural rubber and silicone rubber).

  • The funded amount received from AICTE under Research Promotion Scheme (RPS) will be utilized to create facility with a vision system and a tri-axial manipulator in the Welding Research Lab. Research in the area of controlling the welding process with a feed-back of weld pool geometry has been of interest lately as a way to improve the quality and the consistency. 

  • In this project we are attempting to address various VLSI design related issues with a special focus on low area and low power implementation of the finite filed arithmetic. We intend to select a few algorithms with the potential for application in the area. Their realization with FGPA will be studied, analyzed and compared. The focus will be on the identification of algorithms and parameter combinations which will deliver optimum performance.

  • This is concerned with development of video summarization techniques like Non negative matrix factorization, singular value decomposition etc.

  • Induction motors at light load run at low power factor and low efficiency. But  if  the  stator  supply  voltage  is  reduced  at  light  load  condition,  both the  efficiency  and  power  factor  can  be  improved  owing  to  reduction  in magnetizing  current  and  core  loss.  The  proposed  energy  saver  is  a thyristorized  phase  control  working  in  feed  back  mode.

  • All the state of the art methods of image fusion techniques were compiled and implemented as easy to use software.

  • The funded amount received from AICTE under MODROB scheme has been utilized to modernize the Metallurgy Laboratory with the following equipments:

  • The  project  envisages  development  of  novel  polymers  based  on cardanol,  a  constituent  of  a  natural  product,  viz.cashewnut  shell liquid.  Polyamides  using  diamine  have  been  synthesized  and characterized.

  • A Cryptographically Secure Power Generators (CSPRNG) is a power generator with properties that makes it suitable for use in cryptography. CSPRNGs are designed explicitly to resist determined mathematical reverse engineering. In this project, we are studying the designs of power generators based on number theory. We concentrate in fast generation of the following generators: Power generators such as BBS generators.

  • The project titled Design of Low Weight Shaped Beam Reflector Antenna with Integral IFF and SLB Antenna is handled by the Center for Computational Engineering and Networking. The Principal Investigator of the project are Prof. A. N. Shivaram and Prof. C. G. S. Sarma.

  • The funded amount received as a grant from GOI was utilized in establishing a state - of - ;the art welding research laboratory at Ettimadai campus comprising of the following equipments Lincoln ElectricTIG Welding Machine, Lincoln Electric MIG Welding Machine, StellarNet UV Radio-spectrometer and Linear Manipulator.

  • The objectives of the projects is to develop a system that extracts objects and motion information, uses an extensible object-relational system for organizing multimedia and incorporates novel query-processing techniques for similarity queries.

  • Indo-Italian Project: Amrita University along with the University of Milan aims to develop and investigate the dynamics of brain models that are capable of predicting the cerebellar input-output transformations. It also hopes to analyze the mathematical and computational properties of the robotic network.

  • The project titled "Development of a method to Control Ultraviolet Radiation in welding Processes" is funded by DRDO. The investigators of the project are Dr. R. Sellamuthu, Dr. Sanjivi Arul, Dr. S. Ilangovan and R. Saravanan.

  • Objective  of  this  project  is  to  develop  Data  acquisition  system  from distributed  sensors  with  capabilities  for  16-to-24-bit  enhancement, local  storage,  and  local  visualization  and  the  Secure  transmission  of acquired  data  reliably  to  multiple  data  centres  across  India  over  VSAT and  Internet.  Data  centres  also  have  the  data  visualization,  archival, and   data   format   conversion   capabilities.

  • The project titled "Modernisation of Dynamics Laboratory for realtime vibration analysis (MODROB)" is funded by AICTE. The Principal Investigator of the project is Dr. Joshi C. Haran.

  • The project titled “Smart water management" is submitted to DeitY. Dr. P. Bagavathi Sivakumar, Dr. Latha Parameswaran, Mr. V. Ananthanarayanan, Mr.Prashant Nair are the investigators. The duration of the project is 3 years. 

  • Paripreksya 3.0 is a tele-operated UGV (Unmanned Ground Vehicle) developed at HuT Labs.It is a light weight robot capable of doing complex maneuvering, mobility and dexterity tasks. The robot typically consists of a mobile base and a manipulator.

  • Drug repurposing refers to finding alternate indications to approved drugs, leads in regular development cycles, or even compounds previously discontinued from development. This collaborative project between Amrita University (Bengaluru Campus) and Jawaharlal Nehru University (New Delhi) aims to develop web‐based UI landscapes to provide a data‐centric deep mining technique that lets researchers formulate sophisticated drug repositioning hypotheses.
