• This project aims to study the extent of software piracy and other digital content piracy in India, the methods by which piracy is done, and also the common methods adopted by organizations to curtail piracy of their intellectual properties. The project also aims at finding, developing and integrating softwares used for detecting digital content plagiarism and software piracy.

  • Diabetes is a chronic disorder characterized by abnormal blood glucose levels due to problems associated with insulin production and action. When glucose levels rise too high, diabetes becomes dangerous. Without medical care, it can increase the risk of heart disease and stroke and in late stages can cause blindness, kidney failure and loss of limbs.

  • The  project  envisages  development  of  novel  polymers  based  on cardanol,  a  constituent  of  a  natural  product,  viz.cashewnut  shell liquid.  Polyamides  using  diamine  have  been  synthesized  and characterized.

  • It is a micro-level response activity simulator developed as part of Rescue and Responsphere for the purpose of testing IT solutions in the context of a crisis response. It is a multi-agent simulator for simulating campus level crisis response activities. It has plug and play capabilities where models and IT solutions can be incorporated into the system.

  • A-VIEW (Amrita Virtual Interactive e-Learning World) is an award winning indigenously built multi-modal, multimedia e-learning platform that provides an immersive e-learning experience that is almost as good as a real classroom experience developed by Amrita e-Learning Research Lab.

  • Objective  of  this  project  is  to  develop  Data  acquisition  system  from distributed  sensors  with  capabilities  for  16-to-24-bit  enhancement, local  storage,  and  local  visualization  and  the  Secure  transmission  of acquired  data  reliably  to  multiple  data  centres  across  India  over  VSAT and  Internet.  Data  centres  also  have  the  data  visualization,  archival, and   data   format   conversion   capabilities.

  • The project titled "Adaptive and automatic insulin pump" is funded by TIFAC-CORE, DST, Govt. of India. Dr. Bipin Nair is the Principal Investigator of the project.

  • Amrita Technologies has developed an integrated world-class University Management System (UMS) which includes an e-learning platform AMRITA VIDYA, a web based software for effective management of learning services. Amrita UMS develops and supports all the major university-wide administrative and learning management systems.

  • It currently being developed under the SUGA project at UCI, that supports cross disability access. The distance-learning framework is built on top of the MPEG-4 framework and supports the adaptation techniques developed as part of the SUGA project.

  • Most personalised learning systems are designed for either personal computers (e-learning) or mobile devices (m-learning). The integration of hand-held devices like the mobile phones and tablets in the educational setting is radically transforming how we access educational content. With the mobile technology gaining momentum, mobile tools such as personal digital assistants, tablet computers, and mobile phones have begun to gain more importance in education.

  • India is the second largest populated country in the world with more than 1.3 billion people having diverse culture, languages, food habits and tastes etc. Rice is a common staple food consumed by people all over India. A variety of food items can be prepared with rice including rice flakes, idly, appam, dosa etc. Of all these, dosa is one of the most popular dishes in India, usually consumed as breakfast and sometimes even as dinner.

  • This project is about building automated wheelchair for the elderly and physically challenged. It takes any destination which lies within a particular mapped location as input, calculates the shortest path to that location, and takes the user to the destination without any external aid. The entire floor plan of the house is divided as grids and coordinates are identified. Two different implementation mechanisms are available: FPGA based VLSI implementation and Raspberry-Pi based Embedded System implementation. LARN algorithm - Location Awareness and Remembrance Navigation algorithm is designed using Djikstra's shortest path algorithm to implement the auto-navigation functionality.  

  • The project aims to design, develop and analyse an encryption algorithm.

  • The project was aimed to empower adults and children of selected tribal hamlets with tablets & 1000 ST candidates in Kerala where trained on integrated program with ACC combined with either social/ health awareness training.

  • Oxidative stress refers to the physiological stress caused by an imbalance between the systemic production of reactive oxygen species and the biological system's ability to detoxify the reactive intermediates. It is a condition where the system lacks its ability to repair the damage due to oxidative stress and thus leading to a number of diseases.

  • A laboratory scale micro grid hardware simulator was designed and fabricated for demonstration of energy management with the help of distributed embedded nodes doing real time measurements and communication.

  • A low cost non-invasive screening technique for breast cancer is highly demanded, since the number of women having breast cancer is increasing day by day.

  • Current product recommender systems only allow users to select from off the shelf products. However if they wish to mix and match components to create customized products, current recommendation systems do not support that.

  • Through Amrita's women empowerment initiatives, rural women are trained to build their own toilets, thereby addressing the urgent need for sanitation infrastructure in rural communities. However, women do face some challenges while constructing toilets such as the acquisition of construction materials (which can be expensive) and the overall time required to build the toilets.

  • The Indo-Brazil Joint Workshop on Nanomaterials for Renewable Energy was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This workshop was led by Amrita Centre for Nanosciences. Indian participants were IIT Mumbai, IIT Delhi and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. There were 12 participants from various universities in Brazil. The workshop focused on research opportunities for collaboration between the two countries in renewable energy.

  • The project titled "Experimental and numerical investigations of roof slab for future fast breeder reactors", is funded by IGCAR. The investigator of the project is Dr. M. Ramu.

  • For many villagers in India, collecting and carrying water is part of their daily routine. However, villagers often have to walk several kilometers to collect water necessary for themselves and their families, sometimes walking several times a day. Many villagers, especially women, collect and carry between 200 and 500 liters of water per day for their families and cattle.

    Recognizing the hardship of the villagers, faculty, staff, and students from the Amrita Center for Wireless Networks and Applications and Amrita Self Reliant Villages (ASeRve) worked together to build a water distribution system for more effective water use and management.

  • The project titled "Treatment of Pharmaceutical and personal care products (PPCPs) using Advanced Oxidation Process" is funded by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham.   Mr. PrakashChinnaiyan, Co- PI : Dr. K. M.Mini, Dr. Sathyanarayanan are the Principal Investigators of the project. 

  • A dual frequency quarter wave shorted microstrip patch antenna with two radiating elements on a single substrate for satellite applications is presented. Antenna configuration of MIMO demands compact efficient multiple antennas with considerable isolation.

  • The project titled "Fulbright Specialist Scholar Program", is funded by USIEF. The investigator of the project is Dr. Ajith Ramesh.

  • Multilingual Adaptive Assessment is web-based adaptive assessment software, customised in local languages, that works according to the principles of Amrita Learning. The system assesses what the child need and and develops a personalized model of how the curriculum is to be taught and presented. This software helps us to cross borders and break barriers between different cultures and language-groups.

  • A low cost and high radiation efficiency antenna structure, Substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) is designed for Space Applications at 5.8 GHz.

  • Stabiliz-E is the result of immense need to move from the traditional, centralized, static energy grid towards a decentralized and dynamic grid, which gives more freedom to producers, distributes and consumers in energy sector.

  • Nowadays, we see large variety of applications of robotic instruments, oriented to influence human living. Robots in nearly every domain, are helpful to lead a very comfortable life. Humans struck by partial paralysis undergo great difficulty to carry out daily activities. Nevertheless, after rigorous therapy, their motor controls can be regained if the severity levels of the stroke are not quite high.

  • Stairs of different sizes and shapes and variety of designs are available in various households. We always find odd to clean the stair case steps and cleaning several steps in multistoried buildings is in itself a task. Using robots for cleaning surface, glass, rooms etc. are not new and are in the field of research for more than a decade. But when it comes to stair case cleaning, we see that the research area is only few years old. The main reason is the enormous difference is design mechanism when it comes to vertical climbing robots compared to the robots that move over surface. These robots function in 3-D space where as surface cleaning robots function in 2-D space which is comparatively easier to design and implement compared to the 3-D space robots. Our 'ClePa' is designed to operate in 3-D space  with several features including: manual control, semi-autonomous and fully-autonomous control, crawler based mobility mechanism, stationary and dynamic obstacle detection and avoidance and threshold detection.

  • The project proposes to develop a hardware based network intrusion detection system for high speed networks.

  • The project titled, "Macrocyclic and Carbocyclic Constructions by SET Oxidations of Styrenes, Allenes and Cyclopropanes"  was sanctioned by the  Department of Science and Technology with budget of  17 lakhs.     

  • The project titled "Energy Saver for induction motor" is funded by DRDO. : Dr. Isha T. B., Professor, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, School of Engineering, Coimbatore, is the Principal Investigator of the project.

  • The first use of the rescue robots was actually during the World Trade Centre(WTC) collapse in 2001 though the research was going on this field in the past for many years. The main goal of these robots is to reduce the number of deaths during disasters by surveying the areas in which humans are not permitted until the fire is off.

  • The goal of this project is to improve the ease of generating knowledge representations, so that semantic search can be better supported. The project aims to simplify the process of knowledge representation by using statistical approaches and enhancing their expressivity using graph theoretical approaches

  • The project titled "Design and development of smart composite structures for active vibration and shape control", is funded by AICTE. The investigator of the project is Dr. M. Ramu.

  • The Women Empowerment: Community Sanitation through Democratic Participation project aims to empower 5,000 women to become champions of sanitation by providing a platform for democratic participation and a network of support to women.

  • Dr. Shantanu Bhowmik, Head - Research and Projects, Amrita School of Engineering and Professor, Department of Aerospace Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore, is the prinicipal investigator of the project Development of Light Weight Bullet Proof Material.

  • It is seen that therapies for diabetes and heart disease affects liver and these diseases are increasing in prevalence especially in developing countries. The liver metabolises and detoxifies drugs and substances that are harmful to the body as well as produces blood clotting factors, proteins, and enzymes and helps maintain hormone balances, and stores vitamins and minerals.

  • In this proposed work, Cooperative Communication in Wireless Sensor Networks is analysed. Cooperative Communication helps in reliable information transfer and minimum energy. The node lifespan is dependent on energy efficiency and error performance.

  • AmritaCREATE is funded under the World Bank funded initiative 'India: e-Delivery of Public Services DPL', for its eGovernance Analytics Platform in collaboration with CDAC and Amrita School of Business.
