The School of Pharmacy strives not only to provide quality education in pharmaceutical sciences but also to establish itself in research and serves as an ideal platform for the overall development of highly competent pharmacy professionals. The School maintains an exemplary clinical practice and conducts community outreach programmes that address the needs of Kochiites and the society at large.
The School is housed in a self-contained five-storied building and is located away from the hustle and bustle of the main hospital within the campus, yet has access to all the clinical services. This optimal location provides a calm and quiet atmosphere conducive for learning.
Once the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) recognised and announced the launch of the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D.) programme in 2008 all over India, Amrita School of Pharmacy, taking full advantage of its in-house hospital and the associated healthcare services, started offering the six – years Pharm. D. (Regular) and three years Pharm. D. (Post Baccalaureate) programmes from 2010.
The two programmes were the first of their kind in the state of Kerala and the School’s enrolment expanded significantly due to this landmark achievement.
The gradual yet steady thrust in research has culminated in the registration of candidates for the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D.) programme.
Since the School strongly believes in the teachings of its respected Chancellor Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma), it advocates the inculcation of cultural values in one’s day – to – day activities. Hence, value education is mandatory for all students enrolling in the School. The students are encouraged and motivated to participate in the charitable outreach activities of Mata Amritanandamayi Math.

Dr. Sabitha M.
Principal, Amrita School of Pharmacy
Pharmacy is a noble profession since the services ultimately reach the suffering humanity, either directly or indirectly. Pharmacy professionals deal with the life saving, pain relieving, problem solving substances – ‘The Drugs ’ !.
A drug during its long journey from the lab until it is administered to the patient, passes through the hands of a pharmacy professional at various stages like discovery, synthesis or isolation and purification, testing for advantageous pharmacological effects and absence of toxicological effects, formulation development, manufacturing and testing of drugs and ultimately medication management in the hospital.
We at Amrita, inspired by our Chancellor AMMA, try hard to mould the budding professionals competent in knowledge and skills, powered with values, so that they can be better humans and best professionals for tomorrow.
