Amrita Receives the First TDF Project for Development of Light Weight Bullet Proof Materials

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and the Defence industrial major, L&T, were awarded the TDF certificate on 18th January, 2018, by Defence Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman in Chennai. L&T in collaboration with Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham will develop the light weight bullet proof materials for the Indian Army. Dr. Shantanu Bhowmik, Head of Research and Projects, School of Engineering, Coimbatore, and the innovator of this technology at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham said, “We are very happy to have received the first TDF project. Along with L&T, we shall now set up 10 equipments to develop the composite panels for the light weight bullet proof jackets for Indian Army within two years.”

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Hosts Semifinals of ACM ICPC

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham hosted the semi-finals of the global ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC). More than 765 students from 253 colleges across India and Bangladesh have participated in the event and the students from International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Hyderabad emerged the winners. They, along with three other winning teams from Regional Contests of ACM-ICPC in other parts of India, will participate in the World Finals to be held in April 2018 at Peking University, China.

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Organises Book Release Function at Coimbatore Campus

The Department of English and Humanities, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore Campus, organized the release of the book, Gypsy Feminism, Intersectional Politics, Alliances, Gender and Queer Activism, authored by Dr. Laura Corradi, an eco-feminist and anti-racist activist, on 28th December, 2017.
