Amrita Chancellor to Donate ₹10 Crores to Kerala Flood Relief

Mata Amritanandamayi Math actively involved in providing relief to the families, who were affected in the rains that caused flooding in Kerala and helped people in distress across the state. Mata Amritanandamayi has announced Rs. 10 crores for the Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund (CMDRF). Apart from the Mata Amritanandamayi Math’s monetary donation, physicians and specialists from the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Center (Amrita Hospital) in Kochi as well as the Amrita Kripa Charitable Hospitals in Kollam and Kalpetta have been sent to flood-ravaged areas. AYUDH (Amrita Yuva Dharma Dhara) chapter at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus has started 24X7 Compassionate Kerala Call Centre for Kerala Flood Relief and rescue operations. Several batches of 100 students and 30 faculty members worked in 3 shifts, 24x7 to support those in distress. Meanwhile, of the 40 Amrita Vidyalayam schools in the state, about 30 have become relief camps. They are providing shelter, food, clothing, toiletries and medical care.

Cyclone Hit Filipino Students Graduate With Aid from Mata Amrithanandamayi Math

A total of 480 students, the victims of typhoon Haiyan-Yolanda in Philippines in 2013 who received scholarships from the Amrithanandamayi Math,   have graduated from the senior high school with a culmination ceremony held at the Oriental in Palo, Leyte, in Philippines. Typhoon Haiyan-Yolanda hit the Philippines in November 2013 and over 6,300 people were killed, 7, 50,000 displaced, and financial losses were in billions. In April 2014, as part of its disaster-relief initiatives, 'Embracing the World,' the international humanitarian organisation of Mata Amritanandamayi, donated US$1 million to help the victims of the typhoon.

Organic Farming Harvest at Amrita Coimbatore Campus

The students of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbarore Campus, harvested the organic crops that were planted on September 27, 2017, in relation to the birthday celebrations of Amrita Chancellor, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma).

An Amrita paper titled, "A Novel Underactuated Multi-fingered Soft Robotic Hand for Prosthetic Application",was published in the Elsevier’s Journal, Robotics and Autonomous Systems (impact factor:1.950), affiliated with the Intelligent Autonomous Systems (IAS) Society.
