Integrated M. Sc. (Master of Science) Physics (Offered at Coimbatore Campus)

The Integrated M. Sc. Physics Program at Amrita aims to train the students in high level theoretical knowledge enabling them to tackle practical complex problems in industrial fields as well as to pursue further academic achievements through research. Since Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences are fundamental courses in sciences, students will be taught a mix of all these four subjects during the first two years. After successful completion of fundamental courses, a student will take up core courses in physics. In addition to the core physics subjects, the students can acquire additional expertise in special area of physics in the final year. During this period, all possible opportunities will be created for close interaction with research institutes and industries so as to provide high level training. After successful completion of the academic requirements students are awarded a Master of Science degree.

Thus the main objective of this program is to prepare the younger generation to cope with the emerging scenario in the top level industries, academic and research institutions.

Integrated M. Sc. (Master of Science) Mathematics (Offered at Coimbatore Campus)

​Coimbatore campus of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham offers M. Sc. (Master of Science) Mathematics ( Offered at Coimbatore Campus).

The aim of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is to strive to develop quality research programmes in many of the frontiers of Science and Technology and the programmes in Mathematics are in line with the vision.. The 5-year integrated M.Sc Mathematics offered by the Department of Mathematics will act as a catalyst for initiating many research programmes, theoretical and practical in nature. Employment opportunities for people qualified with M.Sc. in Mathematics are available in the form of teaching positions in various schools and colleges all over India and abroad. They can work as Scientists and Research Associates in highly reputed institutions, like, ISRO, DRDO, CSIR etc. In addition to the above, they also find lucrative jobs and careers in software industries.

Integrated M. Sc. (Master of Science) Chemistry (Offered at Coimbatore Campus)

Amrita offers five year integrated program M. Sc. Chemistry. The proposed course aims to provide students with a broad theoretical background in Inorganic, Organic & Physical Chemistry, with emphasis on Analytical Techniques. Particular attention is given to Industrial applications of chemistry so that students are completely equipped to move into careers in academic, industrial and commercial organizations. The course curriculum is interdisciplinary in nature involving applied chemistry, applied physics, mathematics and biological sciences. Our institute has a good number of experts in these areas along with basic instrumentation facilities. The content of the course provides an understanding of different aspect of chemistry. Laboratory courses have been designed to provide an exhaustive and hands on experience on working with various sophisticated instruments. Final semester is dedicated to thesis/dissertation work giving students experience in solving a real-life problem under the supervision of faculty members involved in pursuing research and development projects, usually related to industrial problems.

After successful completion of the academic requirements students are awarded a Master of Science degree. The curriculum is designed to ensure depth in the area of specialization together with breadth of exposure and intellectual enrichment and to prepare the students for high level professional research and development career in national laboratories, universities and industry.

B. Tech. (Bachelor of Technology) in Aerospace Engineering

B. Tech. in Aerospace Engineering is a four year professional undergraduate program offered by Amrita School of Engineering. Aerospace engineering deals with the design, construction, and study of the science behind the forces and physical properties of aircraft, rockets, flying craft, and spacecraft. The prescribed courses of study and syllabi cover areas like, design, structures, propulsion, aerodynamics and systems. The laboratories and workshops, detailed in the curriculum, have been framed to take up the challenges in Industry and focus themselves on research and development. The student has access to the latest versions of many analysis and design packages.

Tie-ups with the pioneering institutions like National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), Indian Space Research Organizations (ISRO) etc., have served as eye-openers on the complexities of real life problems, both for the students and faculty members.

B. Tech. (Bachelor of Technology) in Chemical Engineering

B. Tech. in Chemical Engineering is a four year professional undergraduate program offered by Amrita School of Engineering. Chemical engineering is the broadest branch of engineering, training professionals to design, manufacture, operate and control processes of industries such as petroleum and petrochemicals, energy, power generation including ultra mega power plants, coal-bed methane, combined gas cycle plants and nuclear power, defense, mining and minerals including steel and aluminum, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, nanotechnology, cement, fertilizers, textiles, leather, food and agro-based technologies, polymers, and environmental engineering. The program has a curriculum of global standards emphasizing the fundamentals, breadth of the discipline, and the necessary flexibility in being able to apply the fundamentals in widely varying contexts. Simultaneously trains the students in specialized elective streams such as materials science, nanotechnology, pharmaceuticals and petrochemicals, and petroleum refineries. The students learn hands-on engineering skills in excellent labs, workshops and on computers.

B. Tech. (Bachelor of Technology) in Civil Engineering

B. Tech. in Civil Engineering is a four year professional undergraduate program offered by Amrita School of Engineering. Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works like roads, bridges, canals, dams, and buildings. The curriculum of B. Tech. is developed in such a way that the students are given exposure to the different areas of Civil Engineering like structural engineering, environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, water resources engineering, and transportation engineering etc. so that the students can develop and diversify themselves in their respective area of interest.  The academic activities emphasis on deep understanding of fundamental concepts, development of creative ability to handle the challenges of Civil Engineering, and the analytical ability to solve problems which are interdisciplinary in nature. The program includes laboratories in the areas of survey & geoinformatics, construction engineering & material evaluation, geo-technical & transportation engineering and environmental & water resources engineering.

The students are given an opportunity to get involved in the research activities of the department and thereby receive the best possible introduction to hands-on, practical engineering problems.

B. Tech. (Bachelor of Technology) in Computer Science and Engineering

B. Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering is a four year professional undergraduate program offered by Amrita School of Engineering. It is the science that deals with the theory and methods of processing information in digital computers, the design of computer hardware and software, and the applications of computers. The program focuses on theoretical computer science as well as software and application development. This course embodies the science and technology of design, construction, implementation, and maintenance of software and hardware components of modern computing systems and computer-controlled equipment as well as provides strong foundation in mathematics and science. Course syllabi and curricula are updated frequently to meet industry requirements. The curriculum preparation follows the undergraduate curriculum guidelines provided by the Joint Task Force on Computing Curricula: IEEE Computer Society and the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). From their fifth semester onwards, students have an opportunity to choose from a wide range of electives. Courses in each knowledge segment are identified as core courses, soft-core courses and electives. There is mandatory registration and a credit earnings requirement for Core and Soft-Core courses.

The students are provided opportunities to develop their professionalism, life-long learning skill, team-work and communication skills through their compulsory participation on a yearlong academic project. Students are encouraged to come up with their own ideas and those ideas are materialized by the department into actual projects with societal impact. The students are also encouraged to publish their work based on the projects undertaken.

B. Tech. (Bachelor of Technology) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering

B. Tech. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering is a four year professional undergraduate program offered by Amrita School of Engineering. Electrical engineering is a field of engineering that generally deals with the study and application of electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism. The course is designed in such a way so as to provide excellent technical knowledge in the emerging areas of electrical engineering. Basic electrical engineering, electric circuit theory, power electronics, theory and performance of electrical machines, energy systems, control systems, electrical measurements and instrumentation etc. are offered as core subjects. During higher semesters elective courses on specialized fields such as digital signal processing, artificial intelligence, facts, high voltage engineering, biomedical engineering, etc. are offered. The curriculum is also framed as to make the students proficient in the use of computers for solving problems in Electrical and Electronics Engineering by using the state of the art computer packages like MATLAB, P-Spice and MiPower.  The curriculum is updated from time to time as per the recommendations of the Board of Studies. This ensures that the students are at pace with the advances in technology. Distinguished Lectures supplement classroom instruction, as invited experts share their knowledge and experience with students.

The department focuses on overall development of the students imparting soft skills through projects and seminar presentations and by encouraging Student's Association activities and industrial visits. Value education and professional ethics are also an integral part of the curriculum.

B. Tech. (Bachelor of Technology) in Electronics and Communication Engineering

B. Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering is a four year professional undergraduate program offered by Amrita School of Engineering. Electronic and communication engineering is concerned with applying knowledge in electronics to facilitate communication and solve engineering problems. The curriculum is organized such that it enables students to get a strong foundation on various aspects of electronics and communication engineering such as digital systems design, electromagnetic theory, digital signal processing, microprocessors and microcontrollers, electronic circuits, VLSI design, digital communication, analog communication, control engineering, and microwave engineering. While building a solid foundation of the fundamentals, the students are also exposed to emerging trends in the industry and are molded to be quality professionals of the future. The students are also provided an opportunity to choose specialization electives to focus on their identified areas of interest such as embedded systems, wireless communication, satellite communication, biomedical signal processing, VLSI fabrication technology, speech processing, and optical communication.
