Swami Amritaswarupananda Puri

Swami Amritaswarupananda Puri is the most senior disciple of Amma and also the first disciple who had been initiated into Sanyasa by Mata Amritanandamayi Devi. He holds a Postgraduate degree in Philosophy. Swami Amritaswarupananda Puri was known as Balu when he first came to Amma in 1979 and later became Brahmachari Amritatma Chaitanya. In October 1989, he was ceremoniously initiated into Sannyasa.
Swamini Krishnamrita Prana
Swamini Krishnamrita Prana, first came to stay at Amma’s ashram in the year 1982. She was working in Australia as a receptionist and secretary for a plastic surgeon. She had been interested in spiritual life in Australia and sensed that there was something more to life than acquiring material pleasures. She travelled around the world to discover what life was all about. Her final destination was India. She stayed in Mumbai at the headquarters of an ashram which she used to visit while she was in Australia and came to Amma when there were only fourteen persons living there in a few thatched huts. Since then, she has accompanied Amma on all of her tours both in India and around the world. She has written five books about her life with Amma and spirituality.
Swami Ramakrishnananda Puri
Swami Ramakrishnananda Puri, who was known as Ramakrishna, is the son of brahmana parents from Palghat, Kerala. In 1978, when he was an employee of the State Bank of Travancore, he heard about the holy mother from one of his friends. There were two significant events which inspired Ramakrishnan to abandon worldly life and take up a life of renunciation and spirituality. The first was his receiving initiation from the holy mother. On that auspicious day he felt an inexpressible power transmitted from her to him, which totally changed his concept of the meaning and goal of life. The second event was as follows: One day, while showing a picture of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa to him, mother said, ‘Both of you have the same name, yet you have become like this.’ These words of the holy mother pierced the inner depths of Ramakrishnan’s heart like a lightning bolt and strengthened his desire to become a real spiritual aspirant.
Swami Amritageetananda Puri
Swami Amritageetananda Puri, is one of the senior disciples of Amma. He was known as Aneesh when he first met Amma in the year 1985. Having studied the Vedic Scriptures, Bhagavat Gita and Brahmasutras besides Ramayana and Bhagvatham for three years in an ashram in North India, he joined Amma’s Ashram in April 1986. He is well known for his compositions and rendition of bhajans and has had taken classes on the above mentioned topics for the ashramites of Amritapuri from the year 1987 to 2002. He was initiated into sannyasa in the year 1994. Currently, he is looking after Amma’s Bangalore Ashram.
Swami Jnanamritananda Puri
Swami Jnanamritananda Puri is one of the foremost disciples of Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi. He joined ashram in the year 1983 and was initiated into sannyasa in the year 1995. Swami Jnanamritananda Puri is the Chairman of the Amrita Jan Shikshan Sansthan - an Institute of people’s education which has been launched by the Government of India for the poorest sections of the society for vocational training in over 100 occupations so that they can become self sufficient. Swami, under the leadership of Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi lead JSS of Sivakasi to win the 2008 NLM-UNESCO Award for Adult Literacy. Swami is also the editor in charge of ‘Matruvani’ the spiritual magazine published every month by Mata Amritanandamayi Math and many of the ashram publications that brings light to the minds of lakhs of people.
Swami Vidyamritananda Puri
Swami Vidyamritananda Puri, who was known as Sridhara Bhat, joined Amma’s ashram after completion of his graduation in Physics. He was initiated into sannyasa in the year 1995. He has translated many books for the ashram publication. He is currently the head of Pune branch of ashram.
