MiG- 23

MiG- 23 is part of the Aircraft Design Lab. Students are given On- Job Training (OJT) by faculty and lab technician specialized in aircraft maintenance. The MiG- 23, manufactured by the Soviet Union in the 1970s, used to be a prized possession of the Indian Air Force.

General Characteristics

Rolls Royce AVON

Rolls Royce AVON is a Turbo Jet Engine that has a claim of being the most successful engine post World War II. It was in production till 1974 and used in military as well as civil aircrafts. The engine in Aerospace lab was procured by Amrita from Indian Air Force for students to better understand the working of Jet engines.

Pratt & Whitney JT8D

Pratt & Whitney JT8D is a Turbo- Fan Engine majorly used by Boeing, McDonnell Douglas for their aircrafts. This engine was procured by Aerospace department from Blue Dart aviation to give hands-on experience in understanding aircraft engines.

Suction Type Wind Tunnel

The Suction- type Wind Tunnel is used as a part of Aerodynamics lab and for carrying out various projects related to Aerodynamics. This 900X 600mm cross section low speed wind-tunnel has a maximum speed capacity of 35 m/s with an option to have multiple pressure taping points along the chord or span of the aerofoil.

Flight Simulator

Provides hands-on experience to students for their flight testing, aero-design and controller design studies.
