Bio

Dr. Vandana Rani M, MD (Ay), serves as Professor and Head of the Department of Swasthavritta at the Amrita School of Ayurveda, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. She completed her BAMS and Postgraduate degree in Swasthavritta from the Government Ayurveda College, Thiruvananthapuram, and has continued to contribute extensively to academic teaching, clinical practice, and research in preventive and lifestyle medicine. She began her academic career at Pankajakasthuri Ayurveda College, Thiruvananthapuram, and subsequently joined the Amrita School of Ayurveda, where she has assumed progressive academic and leadership responsibilities.

With over 21 years of undergraduate and 13 years of postgraduate teaching experience, Dr Vandana Rani has played a significant role in training Ayurveda professionals. She has successfully guided more than 20 postgraduate theses, reflecting her sustained engagement in academic mentoring and research supervision.

Her academic and clinical interests include lifestyle diseases, Yoga, Naturopathy, hypnotherapy, subconscious mind counselling, and healthy diet preparation, with a strong focus on preventive and promotive healthcare. She is a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist from the California Hypnosis Institute, USA, and has also undergone a short-term course in Indian Astrology. She has conducted over 250 clinical hypnotherapy sessions for Indian and international clients, including students.

Dr. Vandana Rani follows a holistic and integrative approach, combining guided meditation, counselling, Yoga, and Ayurveda in the management of psychosomatic disorders such as anxiety, depression, bronchial asthma, diabetes mellitus, and hypertension. She is also actively involved in conducting guided meditation programs for children, aimed at improving focus and concentration in academic activities and addressing maladaptive habits such as nail biting and smoking.

In addition to her teaching and clinical responsibilities, she has actively participated in national and international academic forums, served as a judge for paper presentations, and contributed scholarly and popular articles to peer-reviewed journals, regional dailies, and magazines. She was a columnist for two years in an international magazine, promoting public awareness of Ayurveda, and has co-authored several popular books on Ayurveda.
