Aarohan’15- The Annual Science Fest at Bengaluru Campus

Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru Campus organized its Annual Science Fest, Aarohan’15, from November 5-6, 2015. The annual Amrita Science Fest, Aarohan, is an initiative to foster a bond between an institution of higher education and schools. Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru is conducting Aarohan for the seventh consecutive year. The two day fest witnessed the participation from 25 schools and PU (Pre-university) colleges with a total of 823 students on the first day and 580 students on the second day respectively.

Competitions were conducted for junior category (Class 8-10 Standard students) and senior category (Class 11 and 12 Standard students). The events conducted were Olympiad (Science, Maths & Computers); The Last Egg (Students had to design a container with given resources, to hold an egg so as to withstand a fall from a certain height.); Aashubhashan (paper presentation event which encouraged students to look for technical details and to make presentations); Planets on Earth (an insight into our planetary systems): MockTail (a mixed bag of ‘Castles Wars’ (testing creative and defending strategies); Mix and Match (fastening different sizes of nuts and bolts) and Point It (pointing lasers to specified positions using mirrors); R.C.Car (Students had to race the Bluetooth controlled cars along a given track.) and iQ- The Tech QuiziQ- The Tech Quiz was an all-out battle of wits and knowhow.

Other events include Mathementum Contour in which participants were exposed to experience different twists and turns in Mathematics. Let’s Build a Smarter World ignited the young minds coming up with novel ideas to create brands for making life smarter. Project Exhibition had a variety of exhibits that resulted from the innovative thinking of young minds. The ideas from various quarters such as a simple device to make explosive sound using deodorant and kitchen lighter, Gaussian Bullet system, Open Source Microcontroller- Arduino based projects, two wheeler ambulance, utility vehicle for agricultural purposes coalesced at Aarohan’15 to ensure that the Fest was a grand success. 

The students of Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru, showcased a Tech Exhibition which gave the visiting participants a jumpstart towards the world of technology. The exotic display of motorcycles filled the school kids with wonder at the technological talent that is always growing.

The valedictory function was highlighted by a strong positive feedback from the participating students and accompanied teachers. They expressed their taking home memorable learning experiences coupled with fun and enjoyment.  The fest awarded the winners of various events with certificates and cash prizes worth a total of INR Rs. 4 lakhs. The 2015 rolling trophy of Aarohan was bagged by Sri Chaithanya P U College, Koramangala.
With the passing years, Aarohan has been striving for perfection, and the overwhelming response of participating schools and colleges signified Aarohan’s optimum growth. Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru Campus takes immense pleasure in sending home illuminated minds.
