Amrita Centre for Nanosciences Students Provides Amrita Nano Panels for Indian Villages

Students at Amrita Centre for Nanosciences and Molecular Medicine (ACNSMM), Centre for Storage Integrated Solar Panels at Amritapuri, have successfully made up to 250 watt Si solar panels in the lab. Later, they deployed them in Indian villages that have no grid power.  The deployment occurred under the Live-In-Labs program of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham.

The solar panel effort, led by Dr. Vinod Gopal, was set up with the intent to train students and eventually build storage integrated panels. The feeling of having helped poor villagers who otherwise had no access to power inspired the students.
