Amrita faculty members, Dr. Jayakumar M, Chairperson, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore, and Prashant R. Nair, Vice Chairperson, Department of Computer Science Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore, have been elected as Fellows of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), India.

The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) is India’s leading recognised professional society devoted to the advancement of Science and Technology of Electronics, Telecommunication & IT. The IETE focuses on advancement of the Science and Technology of Electronics, Telecommunication, Computers, Information Technology and related areas. Towards this end the Institution promotes and conducts basic engineering and continuing technical education programmes for human resource development. Government of India has recognized IETE as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO)and educational Institution of national eminence. IETE publishes premier national journals namely IETE Technical Review and IETE Journal of Research, which have a Science Citation Index (SCI) impact factor of 1.330 and 0.909 respectively and are both indexed in Web of Science and Scopus.
