AmritaCREATE, one of the research initiatives of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, organized a one-day workshop on Online Labs for School Lab Experiments at Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Viswa Mahavidyalaya, Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, on September 9, 2017. The workshop was attended by seventy science teachers from seventeen schools.
Dr. V. S. Vishnu Potty, Vice-Chancellor, S.C.S.V.M.V. University, Kanchipuram, was the chief guest for the program.
Suresh Dhandapani, staff member of AmritaCREATE, explained Online Labs to the participants. During the demo session, he explained how to perform an experiment in Online Labs virtually. The demo session was followed by hands-on session on Online Labs, conducted in two batches. In the hands-on session, the participants got the opportunity to explore Online Labs in the computer lab of the school for one hour. After the training session, certificates of participation and free OLabs CDs were provided to the participants for future reference.

“The children will use this virtual lab for learning by doing which is very important to understand the concept and to connect with our day to day life,” said Ms. Banumathy, a biology teacher from MLM Mamallan Matric Higher Secondary School.
“This training program is very useful and helpful to us. As a teacher, we can deliver the theory concepts into practical by showing this online labs to students. The students can easily capture the concept,” said Ms. P. V. Poornima, a chemistry teacher from MLM Mamallan Matric Higher Secondary School.
“When the student wants to recollect the practical sessions, they do not have to go to the lab. They can directly go to OLabs website and try out the lab experiments online,” said Ms. G. D. Kavitha from GHS School.
