As part of Online Labs Training Program and Amrita Rural Tablet Education Project, Mr. Suresh Dhandapani, AmritaCREATE team member, visited different schools and villages in Telangana from February 18- 22, 2017. He started visiting the schools in Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana on February 18, 2017.
Mr. Suresh Dhandapani gave a brief introduction of Online Labs and arranged a demo for the academic coordinators and resource persons of the schools. They showed a keen interest in the project and requested to conduct Online Labs training program at the teachers’ orientation program that the school conducts in the month of April to June.
Mr. Suresh Dhandapani demonstrated O-Labs at the head office of three leading schools in Telangana such as Sri. Chaitanya Groups of Schools, Narayana Group of Schools and Nellore’s Ravindra Bharathi Group of Schools.
Mr. Suresh Dhandapani visited Kodur, a small village in Medak district of Telangana, on February 19, 2017. The aim of the visit was to gain knowledge on the progress of implementation of the Amrita RITE project at the village. During the visit, school bags and stationary items were distributed to the students at the education center. Education assessment was done to evaluate the progress of students at the study centre. The attendance sheet was also checked to identify the presence of students at the class. After reviewing both documents, the team identified that there are nearly eighty active students in the village training center.
On the next day, February 20, 2017, he visited Sri. Gayathri School, St. Joseph’s High School, St. Antony’s High School and St. Antony’s Junior School in Medak district and trained around twenty two teachers from the schools. On February 21, 2017, he trained fourteen teachers from Sharada School, Shanthinikethan School and Swathi High School at Hyderabad district.
On the last day of his visit, February 22, 2017, Mr. Suresh Dhandapani discussed about Online Labs project to Ms. Usha Rani, Deputy Director of Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan, Hyderabad, a centrally sponsored scheme with the objective to enhance and improve the quality and access to secondary education.
