Dr. Sanjay Banerji, Amrita School of Business Presented at International Conference of Alternative Energy, Thailand

Dr. Sanjay Banerji, Founder Director and Professor Emeritus, Amrita School of Business, Coimbatore participated in the Third International Conference of Alternative Energy for Developing Countries and Emerging Economies (AEDCEE) held at Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand from 28-29 May 2015.

Prof. Banerji presented three papers at the conference on behalf of Prof. Gyanendra Sisodia, Faculty Associate, ASB Coimbatore, who was the primary author.  The first paper titled ‘Does the Use of Solar and Wind Energy Increase Retail Prices in Europe? Evidence from EU-27’ initiated a discussion on the  contribution of solar and wind energy to households and industrial electricity, especially on the net prices of the renewable electricity to the end consumers.

The second paper presentation titled ‘The Status of Energy Price Modeling and its Relevance to Marketing in Emerging Economies’ explored the various economic forecasting methods for the purpose of energy price modeling in varied contexts of geography, demand, supply, marketing and strategy.

The final paper titled ‘Projected Business Risk of Regulatory Change on Wind Power Project: Case of Spain’ scrutinized the regulatory uncertainties that pose a business risk to renewable energy investors by analyzing the recently revised framework of energy regulation in Spain. The paper also presents policy implications for developing countries.

Organized by Thaksin University, the conference aimed to encourage international discussion of alternative energy and related research, thus contributing to the sustainable development of nations through science, technology, innovation and public policies. Pre-conference workshops were held on 27 May, 2015 on topics such as ‘Smart Grid for Renewable Energy Integration’, ‘Alternative Power Generation’, ‘Wind Power’, ‘Benefits of Electric Vehicle Integrated into Electricity Network’ and ‘Cost Calculation of Electricity for Solar Farm and Wind Farm’, by Prof. Dr. Ahmad Zahedi, James Cook University, Australia.  The workshops provided the researchers with brilliant insights into the generation and distribution aspects of renewable energy. The conference added a blend of practical knowledge through an informative site visit to a solar farm in Thailand, a first-of-its-kind in the nation.
