World Heart Day Observed at Amrita Mysuru Campus

“With a healthy heart, the heartbeat goes on”. Today’s lifestyle has increased heart risk, which calls for spreading awareness about heart health. To spread awareness on the importance of heart health, students of the Department of Visual Communication, School of Arts and Sciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Mysuru Campus, celebrated “World Heart Day” on September 28, 2018.

The event was celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm and the main motive was to promote the current year’s theme “My Heart, Your Heart”. Various fun events and contests were organized related to heart care and its protection.

The students and staff followed the dress code of red and shades of red. The event had a remarkable beginning with a human chain in shape of a heart made by the student volunteers followed by an energetic flash mob to attract the crowd. There were events both for faculty and students to emphasize facts about heart diseases and overall mechanism of the heart.

The staff and students enthusiastically participated in various cardio-activities like Jump for your Heart, Squats, Hula Hoop Spin, Push-ups, Spot Jogging, Twist and Jump, Hip-rotation Exercise, Touch the Ground, Spin-a-Yarn, Follow the Loop games and Zumba dance to various film songs with high energy. The response from the audience was truly amazing.
