Tell Us Your Dreams

Amrita has always been in the forefront of education that is rooted in human values. We are aware of the fact that our students have chosen this university for their higher education with a view to achieving their life’s goals, that do not end with a degree or a job. In fact, that is just the beginning in their career path. In order to cater to the requirements of students from diverse disciplines for building competencies in domain areas as well as in life skills, and play a vital role in the fulfillment of their dreams and aspirations, the university has established a dedicated centre, namely, Corporate and Industry Relations (CIR) at its headquarters in Coimbatore, with branches in the other four campuses.

CIR employs a multi-pronged approach for empowering students to achieve their goals, and supporting industry with projects, industry-based research and other collaborative engagements like establishment of labs, customized higher educational programmes for industry personnel, etc. Simultaneously, it creates opportunities for our faculty to develop their skills through Faculty Development Programmes and familiarize themselves with the latest industry practices.

The learning and development activity at CIR covers over 240 hours of student-centric learning in the areas of verbal and communication, soft skills and numerical aptitude, spread over three to four semesters depending on the length of the programme that the student is into. We believe that a student’s understanding of a subject gets clarity, if he or she is able to relate theory with practical applications. Core competency training at CIR is built around this premise and has been found to be very helpful to the students for a better appreciation of the concepts. A Corporate Action Plan has been drawn up based on many years of experience with academia and industry practitioners.

This encompasses what the industry can do to the institution and vice versa, involving students, researchers and faculty. The concerted efforts to get the subject matter experts (SMEs) from industry to participate in board of studies, conferences, seminars and other technical events have also benefited the students and the faculty by exposing them to the developments and trends in industry and the corporate world.

We urge the students to set their goals clearly and chalk out a detailed plan of action for academic learning and professional and life skills development. At the same time, make the best use of the conducive ambience prevailing in the campus to imbibe core human values, without which all other attainments pale into insignificance.
