Gokulashtami Carts Deck Up Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham's Coimbatore Campus

The campus of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham wore a festive look on Saturday. Students donned different costumes pertaining to Lord Krishna's life as they celebrated Gokulashtami with much gusto. The highlight of the festivity was the procession that students took out with decorated carts. The march began from the engineering block and culminated in the playground. The carts were decked up keeping in line with various themes and students staged a short skit in front of the judging panel as they moved ahead. The concepts revolved around the life of Lord Vishnu and his Krishna avatar — for instance imprisonment of Devaki and Vasudeva, Kurukshetra War involving Krishna and Arjuna, vishwaroopam of Krishna and stories from Krishna's childhood. One of the departments made a cart that resembled Bhallaladev’s chariot in Baahuballi, catching the attention of many. Bhajans and cultural activities continued throughout the day.
