Abstract : A data coding system is provided for coding an uncompressed data and decoding the coded data. The data coding system comprises a position coding system for defining a context based upon a position of a most significant bit in the uncompressed data and a context value, an encoder for encoding the context to generate an encoded context and compiling the uncompressed data based on the encoded context and remaining bits of the uncompressed data to generate a coded data, and a decoder for decoding the coded data to generate a decoded data.
