Amrita School of Nanosciences and Molecular Medicine (ASNSMM) is India’s first Nanobio center, and is now well-recognized nationally and internationally for its academic & research contributions in the field of nanomedicine, molecular medicine, energy science and engineering. ASNSMM is a premiere research institution conducting cutting-edge research in medical sciences and engineering, including new medicines and diagnostic systems, biomedical devices, energy and electronics. Its close integration with Amrita super-specialty hospital enables substantial research involving clinical applications. It is recognised as a Thematic Unit of Excellence in Medical Nanobiotechnology by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. The energy division is recognized by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India.
In the energy area, ASNSMM is the only research institution in India that is fully integrated with manufacturing capability of different types of solar modules along with R&D in storage integrated solar modules. Equipped with a 6000 sq. ft. clean room state-of-the-art Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) facility for pilot scale processing of nanotechnology products which could have significant value for process optimization, and 25 research laboratories, ASNSMM is a pioneer research school in India offering a comprehensive R&D environment along with its cutting-edge and novel academic programs. The academic programs include Master of Technology (M.Tech) and Master of Science (M.Sc.) programs in Molecular Medicine, Nanobiotechnology and Nanoelectronics and Nanoengineering, and Bachelor of Science Honors (B.Sc Hons.) with Research in Molecular Medicine.
Flow cytometry is a laser-based technique used to distinguish cells according to physical and chemical properties. Flow cytometry is commonly used for the evaluation of bone marrow, peripheral blood and other body fluids for the diagnosis of malignancies and other disease conditions in humans.

Amrita School of Nanosciences & Molecular Medicine became so prolific in the last ten years, reaching out to many institutions here in India and abroad with its cutting-edge research and publications, that we felt it was about time we began to share news about us with the national and international community about our research, our academics, the achievements of our students and faculty and the products that are germinating in our labs. Science is truly global today and sharing is important to build collaborations and benefit from each other. In this spirit we are starting our first newsletter as we near the end of 2016, a year where our Centre has received much impetus from the Government of India, and the year of our tenth anniversary!
