Students from Columbia University Visit Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham

Students from Spirituality Mind Body Institute, Columbia University, visited Amrita Darshanam – International Centre for Spiritual Studies at the Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham for a ten day spiritual retreat from December 20, 2016 to December 30, 2016.

The students had interactive sessions with senior disciples of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and Chancellor Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma). They experienced regular Hatha yoga and meditation sessions under the guidance of Br. Gurudas Chaitanya. He also provided them insights into the Yoga sutras of sage Patanjali.

​The students experienced the ancient way of ashram living through different seva sessions at different departments of ashram. The visitors then embarked on an inner journey at the Amritapuri Ashram in the holy
presence of Chancellor Amma. The students searched deeply within themselves for the nature of Spirit to discover transformational inner realities that will enliven their work with clients, patients, and the work they choose to do.

​This project was organized under the guidance of Dr. Anand S., Chairperson, Amrita Darshanam – International Centre for Spiritual Studies of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and Professor Lisa Miller, Director of Spirituality Mind Body Institute. The students were accompanied by instructor Sarah Sherman of the Institute. The visit was ably supported by Amrita Centre for International Programs.
