Dr. K. Vijayakumar, Professor and HOD at the Department of Community Medicine, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, was invited by Maternal and Infant Health Canada (The University of British Columbia), to deliver a talk on “COVID-19: Experiences from Kerala and India” on May 28, 2020. 

The aim of the webinar was to look at the situation of COVID19 in India and, in particular, in Kerala. Kerala’s achievements were highlighted, including the flattening the curve of COVID 19 spread. The challenges related to the control of COVID19 in the context of Kerala were explained, as well as how previous experiences related to the outbreak of Nipah and responding to previous devastating floods were useful in handling COVID19. The interactive session was attended by more than 100 participants from around the world.
