Thematic Unit of Excellence (TUE) on Tissue Engineering and Medical Bio-Nanotechnology

In 2011, Amrita Center for Nanosciences and Molecular Medicine was chosen for a TUE in Tissue Engineering and Medical Bio Nanotechnology by the Nanomission of the Government of India. The TUE focuses on translational biomedical products where nanomaterials play an enabling role. This includes nanomedicines using organic non-toxic encapsulants, surface modified products, multifunctional diagnostic nanoparticles, and tissue engineered implants. The emphasis is on the setting up of a GMP facility and comprehensive characterisation of translational products within a GMP facility. The TUE will focus primarily on pre-clinical and clinical evaluations of products initially developed at the Center for Nanotechnology at Amrita established since 2006.
