Designing tools and methods for effective interventional strategies towards the empowerment of women and strengthening gender equality with community’s active and inclusive participation by focusing on 6 key areas incorporating all SDG’s, understanding and mapping the vulnerabilities in communities, to finally support India’s progress towards achieving the UN’s 2030 agenda for Sustainable Development. About Center for Women's Empowerment and Gender Equality

Gender Equality and Women Empowerment is one of UNESCO’s global priorities. Mapping Vulnerabilities

The Center is a crossroads of research and action, focusing on several verticals, including: skill development, health, climate change, powered by technology applications. The strategy will be to map the vulnerabilities of women and girls from different levels of empowerment and perspectives, and through research, study, training, and an exchange of best practices, find the best possible solutions that are replicable by others. At present, there are no comprehensive frameworks to effectively capture the extent and scope of social issues. By empowering women and those at the grassroots level who are directly affected, we can gather relevant data that will address social challenges through a holistic and sustainable approach. Vulnerability mapping is the key to understanding these complex social problems. Within the next four years, field teams from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham alongside women in remote communities will create frameworks and collect data along the following six verticals:

  • Conflict and Security
  • Economics and Livelihood
  • Education and Skill Development
  • Social and Cultural Environment
  • Climate Change and Disaster
  • Health and Sanitation
