The School of Ayurveda, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus, will organize a National Seminar on Management of Infertility in Ayurveda, Prajnanam 2019, from February 1 - 2, 2019. 

Infertility is the biological inability of women or men in reproductive age to contribute to conception. Infertility has shown a steep rise in the past few decades as 27.5 million couples in India who wish to conceive suffer from this condition.

The disease entity Vandhyatva is the condition closest to infertility in Ayurvedic perspective.The condition can adversely affect the social and psychological status of an individual which in turn hampers their quality of life. Ayurveda over the ages has successfully combated infertility.

The potentials in this area can impart in the form of lifestyle modifications, dietary habits etc., according to one's basic constitution.Vajikarana (virilization) is the unique treatment aspect to Ayurveda to enhance the sexual potentiation of both male and female individuals.

The focal theme "infertility in Ayurveda" is selected considering its prevalence in the present scenario and to cherish an Insight to the physicians practicing around the globe.

Paper Presentation Guidelines

We invite abstracts from Undergraduates, postgraduate scholars, Ph. D. scholars, academicians and Practitioners on the focal theme Infertility Management in Ayurveda. All papers must be original and should not be submitted to any journal or conference simultaneously.

Categories for Paper Presentations

There will be four categories for paper presentation, of which the first three will be considered for competition and Best Paper award and the last one is open or non-competition category. You can submit Abstracts on,

  1. Pre-clinical and Conceptual - Review papers/Conceptual studies /In vivo and In vitro studies related to Infertility.
  2. Male infertility- Clinical - Case studies/Case series/ Clinical Researches on Infertility.
  3. Female Infertility- Case studies/Case series/ Clinical Researches on Infertility.
  4. Non competitive – Review papers/Concepts/ In vivo and In vitro studies/ Case studies/Case series and Clinical Researches related to Infertility

Submission Guidelines

  1. Complete online registration through the Prajnanam 2019 Registration page
  2. After being registered, you will be provided with an Application number (Eg: 200010).
  3. Mention the application number along with the Title while SUBMITTING ABSTRACTS on or before 1st December 2018.
  4. The participants must specify the category along with the title for which they want to present. [Eg. 1) Competition: A Healthy Conception– An Opening through Pumsavana Karma(200010); Eg 2) Non-Competition: A Healthy Conception– An Opening through PumsavanaKarma(200010)].
  5. Confirmation mail will be received on your registered mail id after submission of abstracts. An acceptance mail will also be received by 6th December 2018 after the completion of peer review process.
  6. All those papers accepted for Oral presentation will be asked to send the full paper and will be published in the conference proceedings which possess ISBN (International Standard Book Number)
  7. Papers selected for Poster Presentation need to prepare as per the guidelines sited below.

Abstract Preparation Guidelines

  • The Abstract must be a structured abstract containing Introduction/Background, Objectives and Methods, Results and Discussion and Conclusion.
  • Title: Please be as brief and explicit as possible. Do not use abbreviations or acronyms in the title.
  • Name(s) of Author(s) should be cited in order of their contribution in the study; main contributors should be listed first.
  • Abstract: Limit the text to 300 words.
  • Abstracts identified with plagiarism more than 10% will be rejected without any information to the author.
  • Presenting author must be registered for the conference by paying the appropriate registration fee.
  • Only one person will be allowed to present. Presenting author will be given the certificate of presentation and other authors will be given participation certificate provided they must be registered for the conference.

Full Paper (Oral Presentation) Preparation Guidelines

Full papers should not be more than four A4 pages including graphs and images (jpeg only) with font-size 16 for title,14 for subheadings and 12 for running text in, Times New Roman with 1.5 Line spacing. Sanskrit fonts should be typed using UNICODE only.

  • Images and graphs should be attached separately
  • Paper identified with plagiarism more than 20% will be rejected without any information to the author.
  • Soft copy of the full paper (in Microsoft word only) of the research work should reach the scientific committee on or before 15thDecember, 2018
  • Selected presentations should be in MicrosoftPowerPoint. Oral Presentation must be in English
  • Final Oral Presentation will be of 8 minutes (6 min for presentation and 2 min for Questions & Answers)
  • The final power point presentation should reach the scientific committee by not later than 20th January 2019.
  • Session Chairperson has the right to terminate the running presentation in case it exceeds the allotted time of 6 min + 2min.
  • Presenters must ensure that there is no copyright & trademark violation in their presentation. Appropriate source, reference must be given.
  • Requested to carry a soft copy of Oral Presentation file in a USB drive free from any malware/viruses to the venue in case of any technical issue in uploading the same.
  • Arrive in the designated hall at least 15 minutes in advance. Ensure with the help of Hall Assistants that your presentation is already uploaded on the PC/Laptop, which will be used for presentation.

Poster Preparation Guidelines

  • The title should be as brief as possible but long enough to indicate clearly the nature of the study. Capitalize the first letter of each word (except conjunctions). No full stop at the end.
  • Size of the poster should be 3 x4 feet.
  • Characters should be a minimum of 48-point font size. Your name, School or Centre should also be displayed on the poster. 48 to 60 point font size is recommended for headings.
  • Written in English. Font: Times New Roman, and clearly visible.
  • Posters in the pdf format should be sent to the scientific committee on or before 15th December.
  • Presenters should bring the posters printed on Fabric material. No posters printed on PVC flex will be allowed to display.
  • The author must remain by his/her poster board for the duration of the entire session.
  • Posters may be set up 30 minutes before the start of the session.
