Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham's AmritaCREATE (Amrita Center for Research in Advanced Technologies for Education) was selected to be one of five finalist teams for the $7M Barbara Bush Foundation's Adult Literacy XPRIZE in an awards ceremony on June 25, 2018, in New Orleans.

Four Uttarakhand Students Trained in AmritaRITE Program Achieve Admission in Navodya Schools

Four school students from the state of Uttarakhand, who were trained a part of the AmritaRITE (Rural India Tablet Education) program, have cleared the Navodaya entrance exam and already started their schooling in June, 2018. In the 2017-18 academic year, AmritaRITE program began selecting bright students in villages and giving special tutoring for Navodaya entrance exam.

Amrita Center for Research in Advanced Technologies for Education (AmritaCREATE), Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, organised Online Labs workshops, for the first time, at different schools in United Arab Emirates (UAE), as part of the Online Labs training programme from 11th to 22nd September, 2017. 

Amrita Among Eight Teams to Advance to the Semifinals of the $7M Barbara Bush Foundation Adult Literacy XPRIZE

The AmritaCREATE Team of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, is one of eight semifinalists advancing in the $7 million Barbara Bush Foundation Adult Literacy XPRIZE presented by Dollar General Literacy Foundation. The Adult Literacy XPRIZE is a global competition, challenging teams to develop a mobile application for existing smart devices that results in the greatest increase in literacy skills among participating adult learners.

AmritaCREATE, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, has authored an article on Medical Virtual Patient Simulator (MedSim), which was featured as a cover story on Computer Society of India's CSI Communications magazine of Computer Society of India (CSI) in its August 2017 issue with the theme, "ICT in Healthcare".

Interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary studies are key to many success stories of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham's research projects. Ministry of HRD's National Mission in Education through Internet and Communication Technologies (NMEICT) had funded a massive project on building Virtual Laboratories for students who did not have access to laboratory education and skill training.

Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) at Karnataka, is the foremost Health Science University in India, established at Bangalore by the Government of Karnataka. On April 21, 2017, Amrita CREATE (Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham) was given the unique opportunity to conduct a live demonstration of MedSim in the presence of the Vice Chancellor, Dr. K. S. Ravindranath.

First MedSim Workshop Held at Karnataka - A Success

The first MedSim workshop in Karnataka was conducted at Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS), Hassan, on April 18, 2017. It was coordinated by Dr. Girish Babu, Programme Coordinator, Professor and Head, Department of Dentistry. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Sreejith and Mr. Ashish Mohan, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham.

iJOE Outstanding Paper Award for Amrita Virtual Lab Paper

A paper on Sakshat Amrita Virtual Labs titled, "Complementing Education via Virtual Labs: Implementation and Deployment of Remote Laboratories and Usage Analysis in South Indian Villages", published in 2016 by International Journal of Online Engineering (iJOE), was awarded the "iJOE Outstanding Paper Award".

Virtual Patients Help Aspiring Doctors Practice!

A one day hands-on workshop on MedSim, a computer-based medical simulation software developed Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in association with CDAC Trivandrum, under a research grant from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, was conducted for the final year MBBS students of Trivandrum Medical College on March 3, 2017.

Amrita RITE- Inclusive Education Model Presented at the Vatican Conference on Children and Sustainable Development

Prof. Prema Nedungadi of Amrita CREATE, was an invited speaker at the Vatican conference on “Children and Sustainable Development: Challenge for Education”, held November 13-15, 2015 at the Pontifical Academy of Sciences.  She presented Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham's Amrita RITE (Rural India Tablet enhanced Education) model that was inspired and guided by Chancellor Amma’s vision to provide both ‘education for making a living’ and ‘education for life’ skills.
