Ph. D in Nursing is a research-focused doctoral degree that focuses on high quality, scientific research that advances the quality of health care and the nursing profession as well. The degree can be obtained as a full time or part time programme.
The function of nurse scholars is to: assume leadership roles in complex healthcare and education systems, develop a theoretical and empirical base for effective nursing practice in both current and emerging health care systems, conduct nursing research and participate in developing healthcare policies.
In Amrita, the focus is on compassion driven research as envisioned by AMMA, Shri. Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, the Chancellor, AMRITA Vishwa Vidyapeetham (Deemed to be University). The highly experienced Medical and Nursing faculty, the high-tech environment of the multi-disciplinary hospital with almost all new medical departments, the department of Health Sciences Research headed by Dr.D.M,Vasudevan are the unique features of Amrita that facilitate the Ph. D programme in Nursing. Interdisciplinary and multi-centric studies are always encouraged. Dissemination of the results of research is given its due importance to keep the public or the beneficiaries well informed and utilize the findings.

Admission is based on all India entrance examination conducted by AMRITA Vishwa Vidyapeetham and subsequent interview.

Scheme of Examination
Exam will be of objective type. Each Multiple Choice Question will consist of a stem and four options, labelled A, B, C and D.
Only one option is correct and for each correct answer three mark will be awarded and one mark is deducted for every wrong answer.
