Communication
  1. Introduction-The need for effective communication, types of communication-verbal,

non-verbal and written communication, qualities of effective communication,

barriers to communication & how to overcome

  1. Business Communication Skills. With focus on speaking – Conversations,

discussions, dialogues, short presentations, pronunciation.

  1. Teaching the different methods of writing like letters, E-mails, report, case

study, collecting the patient data etc. Basic compositions, journals, with a

focus on paragraph form and organization.

  1. Basic concepts & principles of good communication
  2. 5. Communication with patients
  3. Ethics and etiquettes and professional behaviour, history taking and patient

respect, delivering information, patient education, patient counselling, using

language interpretators for communication, communication through e-mails.

7. Difficult Communications-Gender and age issues, taking sexual history, sexual

counselling, breaking the bad news, dealing with a difficult patient

8. Communication within the medical team and non medical team

9. Presenting the case, written communication, telephonic communication,

communication during emergency situations

  1. Writing medical reports-The purpose of medical reports: Communication, recording

for follow up reference, medical litigations, developing a case report-Recording case

history and presentation, communicating interpretation, Writing orders, recording

progress, case summaries.

11. Writing surgical notes, discharge summaries, death summaries, referral letters:

Essential components, dos and don’ts
