Abstract : In the emerging field of mobile robotics, Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM ) of robots play an increasingly important role. In spite of the availability of various algorithms and methodologies for SLAM in mobile robots, this field still faces a lot of difficulties in detecting multiple objects and mapping. In this paper, we propose a method to determine the position of mobile robots and their navigation to establish an outline map of the environment when no previous knowledge of its location is available in a highly effective and cost-efficient manner. This proposed method primarily uses an ultrasonic sensor, RGB-720p camera, motor drivers and a Raspberry Pi module for processing the extracted data. Further, this method can be extensively used even in outdoor environments like hospitals, bio-medical institutions, etc., where robots are required.
